Signs that Your Hair Needs a Trim

I know, I know, I know! The last thing black women want to hear when they are trying to grow their hair is that you need to trim your hair. But wait, there’s more! If your hair is showing signs of wear and tear, basically showing signs that you need a trim, well, you need to trim your main in order to aid your hair growing efforts. So, in case you are in denial, here are some “in your face” signs that you need a trim.

1. The shape of your hair is no more

Pretty much limp and dull looking. Remember when you went to the hair dresser and she trimmed your bangs and it looked oh so healthy, full of life, and bouncy looking? Well part of that healthy look comes from a trim! And notice when your bangs grow out again, they just look long, lifeless, and no shape at all? Well that’s because your hair is losing it’s shape again because it’s in need of a trim.

2. Those Dreaded Split Ends

I recently needed a trim, and before I cut my ends, my hair was frizzy, I had fly aways, had no shape and had major split ends. But as soon as I trimmed my ends, my hair frizz went away and my natural curls now have shape and body. So how do you know if you have split ends? Well lets see, is your hair frizzy? Is your hair breaking off? Is your hair dual and lifeless on the ends? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, it is likely that you have split ends. So what do you do about it? Get a trim! Trust me, you and your hair will be glad that you did.

3. Is your Hair Damaged?

Now you know if your hair is damaged or not. We all know healthy hair, from damaged hair, well if you are a women of color anyway, mainly because damaged hair is so evident among our race. Maybe you’ve noticed the damage after a home applied relaxer, or maybe you shouldn’t have bleached your hair yourself. Whatever the case may be, now your hair is damaged! What do you do? Get a trim! If you look closely at your hair, you may notice knots at the middle to the ends of your hair, indicating damage. That hair has to be trimmed off and nursed back to health.
