The thicker and longer the hair, the harder the chore, espically for african american children’s hair. There is no doubt that longer and thicker hair black hair styling can turn into an all day task, but read the style tips below to make hair styles for childs thick hair last.
1. Braids, braids, and more braids!
Not only are braids a life savor for mothers (and fathers) for African American hair, but they also last long. Tipically, braids last in a childs hair for 1-2 weeks. They may last longer, but I would not reccomend keeping braids in longer than 2 weeks because not only must you keep your childs hair clean and invest in a weekly or bi-weekly hair care routine, but because her (or his) hair is thick and or long, the braids could loc and mat up.
2. Flat Twist and Twisties:
As shown in the picture, you can braid the front of the hair, but instead of leaving the back out, you can but in individual twist. About 30-40 twist will do. This is an easy and manageable style, and it is also easy to maintain and take out when its time for your child’s new dew.
3. Ponytails:
Ponytails are very good when you need a quick and adorable hair style for your child. To make ponytails last longer, make sure you either blow-dry your child’s hair for a straighter and more manageable look, or after you shampoo your child’s hair, apply a water base moisturisers and immediately style your child’s hair following for lasting results.
