How to Properly Blow-Dry You Child’s Hair

Even though it may be a hassle, sometimes you may want to blow dry your childs hair in order to acheive a diffrent look or style.  And in some cases, blow drying your child’s hair may make it easier to style when doing ponytails. If you are going to blow-dry your child’s hair, just make sure you do not blow hot air on the scalp because not only could you burn your childs hair, but you could also make it even more difficult her her to sit in the chair and get her hair done by you again!  You think she wont sit still now? Wait until you  mistakenly blow that hot air on her scalpt and see how hard it will be then!

So in order to avoid scaring your child for life, and having her walking around looking like she needs her hair done because she wont let you do it, follow these blow-drying tips to get you both though the hair style in one piece.

1. Use a wide tooth comb and separate the hair into 4 (or more if needed) sections.  Separate hair using hair clamps.

2. Use a blow-drying lotion such as a heat protecting serum or lotion and apply to each section of you child’s hair.  This is used in order to product the hair.

3.  Use either a blow dryer with an attachment (comb) or a wide tooth comb along with the blow drying and begin “blowing” out each section until completely dry and the entire head is complete. With the blow dryer, continue to work your way down to the shaft of the hair until you reach the scalp. You want to start from the ends of the hair to the root in order to avoid tangling of the hair.

4. Once you have completed step three, and worked the blow dryer up to the root, then begin to blow the hair in a downward motin from the root to the ends.  This should be a smooth step after completing step three because the hair should be straighter and untangled at this point.
