Dealing With Frizzy Hair
As women of color, black hair care is essential to us. And with that said we tend to deal with frizzy hair often. In most cases, the “Frizzy Hair Plague” hits African American women with natural hair making is very hard to find natural black hair styles that last. The reason natural hair, sistas hair gets frizzy more often is because our hair is naturally curly or wavy in it’s natural state, so even if you straighten your hair out with a ceramic iron or a hot comb, once you step out into that heat and the humidity hits your hair, that moisture will make your hair go back to it’s natural curly or wavy state.
This is why black women who have relaxed hair very rarely have to deal with frizzy hair. The chemicals in a relaxer permanently changes the bonds(natural state) of the hair causing the hair to become permanently straightened.
How can I get frizz free hair?
Well I really don’t mean to be the one to actually tell you the truth about this topic, but really, there is no sure permanent way to get rid of the frizz on natural hair. The truth is that humidity equals moisture, and moisture equals frizz (at least for our hair type).
But just like stretchmarks, you can take measures to prevent hair frizz or make the situation better. Below is a hair care routine measure you can take in order to reduce the frizz.
1. Shampoo and Deep Condition your hair (deep condition means sit under a dryer with a plastic cap or leave the conditioner in your hair for up to an hour with an plastic cap.)
2. Blow Dry your hair and make sure its completely dry.
3. Section your hair into four parts.
4. Put a quarter sized portion of Biosilk Silk Therapy onto each section of the hair.
5. Starting with the first section that you applied the Biosilk Silk Therapybegin to flat iron the section first with the a ceramic flat iron. I recommend FHI Heat Flat Iron
Taking these steps should help to reduce of minimize your hair frizz, and hey, that’s better than nothing right?
You can also I also suggest that you find a stylist who is very good with the roller brush and blow dry technique. This is really good for getting your hair it’s straightest.
And remember, if you get tired of trying to get your hair frizz free, you can always opt for braids. This will give your hair, and you a break!
